The college’s work to nurture a culture of Collaboration, Connection & Caring (3Cs) continues with training resources and guides.

The final guide in this series is called “Team Building.” This guide helps explain how to improve the 3Cs culture by nurturing collaboration.

The guide defines team building as the ongoing process of supporting a group of individual contributors into a cohesive team — a group of people organized to work together to support the mission and vision of the college by accomplishing their purpose and goals.

Some recommendations for ways in which you can create high-performing teams include:

  • Get to know colleagues | Share strengths and communication preferences and styles.
  • Mission alignment | Ensure that everyone knows and can vocalize the mission of ACC, the mission of one’s own department, and how the missions align.
  • Mutual respect | Work to handle differences professionally and create an atmosphere that supports differences
  • Team-building activities | Recreational or non-work-based activities such as company picnics and outings and yearly departmental surveys on team-building activities, successes, and needs.
