A New Chapter: Turning Design into Action with the EPMO

Our Theory of Change design teams are hard at work reimagining how ACC can better serve students and our community. Those teams have brought incredible creativity, collaboration, and insight to the table, developing solutions that reflect the needs of both our students and employees. As the Phase 1 teams come to a close, we are preparing for the exciting next step: implementation.

To help us move from ideas to impact, we’re utilizing best practices in project and project portfolio management that have been tailored for ACC’s Theory of Change. So, what does that mean?

We have project management professionals who are here to take on the project management heavy lifting that comes with turning design recommendations into reality. By coordinating planning, timelines, documentation, and processes, our project managers ensure that projects are implemented consistently and with fidelity, without placing an extra burden on implementation team members. Even better, many of our project management employees have already been part of the Theory of Change journey as design or development team members, so they have a deep understanding of this work from the inside out.

Here’s how implementation will be structured:

  • Implementation Advisory Team
This team will oversee the process, making sure the approved recommendations from our design teams are implemented effectively across the college. Think of them as the bridge between design and implementation.
  • Implementation Project Team(s)
These teams will roll up their sleeves and get the work done. Each project team consists of project manager(s), leaders from the affected departments, and relevant subject matter experts from across the college. Each project team will report back to the Implementation Advisory Team, ensuring alignment and accountability throughout the project. Depending on the scope of the recommendations, there will be multiple project teams that launch at various points throughout the implementation timeline.

Together, the Advisory and Project Teams create a strong, coordinated structure for bringing the Theory of Change design recommendations to life.

This is more than just project management. It’s about honoring the thoughtful design work that has been done, ensuring every approved recommendation is implemented with care, and keeping us moving toward our North Star.

Stay tuned as we share updates on implementation progress and highlight the incredible people making it all happen.
