Misty R. Rasmussen, M.S. – Associate Dean, Planning and Accreditation

Misty Rasmussen leads the Office of Institutional Planning & Accreditation and is responsible for overseeing the District’s planning and accreditation efforts. She joined ACC in 2016 as an Accreditation Officer. Her previous higher education experience was as a Director of Planning, Research, and Institutional Effectiveness/SACSCOC Liaison for two community colleges in North Carolina. She also taught Business Entrepreneurship as an Adjunct Instructor in North Carolina. Misty has held various higher education positions at both public community colleges and a private university that includes instruction, continuing education, and student service positions.

Misty was nominated and selected as ACC’s 2019 Professional-Technical Employee of the Year and was the NISOD Excellence Award recipient. She is a SACSCOC Committee Chair, Institutional Effectiveness Evaluator, and Academic Evaluator and actively serves on SACSCOC Committees. She was also the recipient of a Paul Fellow Scholarship through the International Rotary, which allowed her to participate in a Group Study Exchange to Germany to study the German education system: Rotary GSE Team from USA (District 7720) to Germany (District 1930).

Misty holds a B.S. in Biology with a Pre-Med concentration from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and an M.S. in Leadership from Boston University. She is actively pursuing her doctoral degree in Higher Education Leadership through Sam Houston State University and is currently writing her dissertation. In 2020, the International Journal of Doctoral Studies published one of her and her colleagues’ case studies entitled, “Perceptions After Completing a Degree: A Qualitative Case Study of Select Higher Education Graduates.”

Prior to her higher education experience, Misty was an active-duty Marine for six years serving as an Air Traffic Control Communications Technician for Marine Air Control Squadron-2 Detachment Bravo on Marine Corps Air Station, New River in Jacksonville, NC. She graduated second in Corporals Leadership School and has also served as Communications Chief, Armory Custodian, and Detachment Platoon Sergeant during her Marine career. Notably, she led a team to provide communication support for fight operations during the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Operation Dynamic Mix in Thessaloniki, Greece. Misty and her team were recognized for providing communication support for over 400 fight operations while maintaining communications equipment 100% operational. Her recognitions also include 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing NCO of the year, Group 28 NCO of the quarter, and meritorious promotions to Corporal and Sergeant.

Misty enjoys spending time with her husband, a retired Marine, their son, and their Goldendoodles Lady Sansa and Lady Scarlett, traveling and day-tripping all over Texas. She is known to enjoy Blue Bell Ice Cream (the BEST ice cream in the country) at any and every opportunity. She is proud to be a native Texan who finally returned home after leaving to serve in the Marines almost 20 years ago.

Maggie Maher – Coordinator; Accreditation, Assessment, and Planning

Maggie Maher joined the Office of Institutional Planning & Accreditation (then known as the Office of Accreditation & Compliance) as an Accreditation Specialist in 2017. She first joined ACC in 2010, as an Administrative Assistant III in the Office of Articulation and Transfer Resources.

Since joining the Office of Institutional Planning and Accreditation, Maggie has assisted with the completion of Fifth Year Interim Report in 2018, the accompanying Site Visit Reports for eight SACSCOC-approved teaching locations, and countless substantive change prospectuses for the continuously-evolving College, including a Level Change Application for the RN-to-BSN Program. Her previous experience in higher education also includes serving as the Intercultural Learning Coordinator at Southwestern University in Georgetown and as the Work Order Coordinator at Trinity University in San Antonio. Prior to her return to ACC in 2017, Maggie worked for several years in the non-profit sector at a domestic, infant adoption agency based in Austin.

Maggie has a B.A. in International Affairs from Trinity University, and an M.A. in International Education from the University of Bath (Bath, United Kingdom). In her free time, she enjoys going to the movies, reading, and traveling.
