Get a jump on the fall semester and secure your favorite spot to welcome our students back to campus by signing up for Austin Community College District’s (ACC) Welcome Riverbats tradition. Volunteers are needed for the first two days of the fall 2026 semester, Monday, August 24, and Tuesday, August 25.

Volunteers will be scheduled for 2-hour shifts at welcome tables located strategically across each campus. Volunteers will receive a Welcome Riverbat volunteer T-shirt and will greet students as they arrive, help them find their way around campus, and introduce them to the many services and opportunities available at ACC.

Event Dates: Monday, August 24 & Tuesday, August 25
Time: 2-hour shift of your choosing
Locations: All 11 campuses
Sign Up: Volunteer Form

To make sure we can fully focus on supporting students during these crucial first days, ACC will continue to implement Collegewide Calendar Blackout Days.

The program, which launched in fall 2025, asks employees to black out the first two days of every semester — meaning we pause most internal meetings, trainings, and non-essential events to create more time and opportunity for employees to volunteer for a Welcome Riverbats shift.

Activities and events that directly support students and address start-of-semester needs — like advising, help desk support, orientation, and basic needs services — are omitted and will continue as usual.

Whether you’ve volunteered before or you’re ready to try it for the first time, your participation makes a meaningful impact — and it’s one of the most uplifting ways to start the semester.

The deadline to sign up to volunteer is Friday, August 21.
