Learn what you should do during an emergency on campus. Austin Community College District’s (ACC) Emergency Management team offers two emergency preparedness training opportunities this summer to all faculty and staff.

Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events Training

The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) course provides strategies, guidance, and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event. The course was designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend (ADD) strategy developed by the ALERRT (Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training) program at Texas State University in 2004.

Emergency Management Coordinators Kristina Childress and Nick Caspers, along with ACC Police, will lead the session. Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, civilian response options, and considerations for conducting drills.
