Austin Community College District (ACC) hosted Secretary Gina Raimondo of the U.S. Department of Commerce for a special tour and roundtable discussion at ACC Highland Campus on Wednesday, March 1, 2023.
Raimondo toured the college’s advanced manufacturing facilities, including the Manufacturing Academy and IMPACT Lab. Several students provided hands-on demonstrations of the work they do in class.
Afterward, Raimondo sat down with ACC Chancellor Richard Rhodes, Austin Mayor Kirk Watson, the interim CEO of the Austin Chamber of Commerce, industry leaders in the manufacturing sector of Austin, and an ACC manufacturing student to discuss the fast-growing industry and how ACC and employers are working together to build a highly-skilled workforce.
