ACC has partnered with Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas (VLS) to offer free legal advice clinics to ACC students, faculty, and staff.

The pro bono civil legal advice and intake clinics are held monthly to offer both family law and general law help.

“Many times over the years students have told us they do not have the financial resources to access legal advice,” says Steven Christopher, ACC associate vice president for Student Accessibility & Social Support Resources (SASSR). “Whether it be tenant-landlord disputes or custody or child support issues encountered by our student parents, our partnership with VLS gives our students access to high-quality pro bono legal counsel to help address these and other legal issues.”

Clinics will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. in the ACC Highland Campus ACCelerator on the following dates:

  • Wednesday, January 28, 2023
  • Wednesday, February 15, 2023
  • More TBD

Registration is encouraged. Participants who register on the VLS website are given a 30-minute time slot to meet with an attorney for an initial review of their legal issue. Participants must be income-eligible if, upon further review, pro bono legal services are indicated.

Limited availability is open to those without appointments. Anyone without an appointment can get on-site assistance registering for a later clinic.

American Sign Language and Spanish language interpreters will be available at the clinics. Assistance with child care is available but limited.
