ACC’s Office of Student Life hosted its 23rd Annual Nite in the Life Student Recognition Ceremony on Thursday, April 14, 2022. 

Students and employees from across the college embraced the event’s 90s theme and had a totally bangin’ time throwing on their best overalls, trucker hats, and slap bracelets. Below is the list of this year’s winners selected from more than 70 nominations submitted by students, staff, and faculty. 

Emerging Leader of the Year: Brandy Lewis
This award recognizes an individual who has improved the ways we engage with our community, excelled at supporting their peers, and continues to be actively present at Student Life and ACC events. This individual is a rising leader within the ACC community.

Excellence in Inclusion: Honors Student Organization
This award recognizes a student or organization who has done significant work regarding social justice and equity.

Resiliency Award: Ashley Pesina
This award recognizes a student who has demonstrated exceptional resilience in the face of adversity. Despite an ever-changing world, this student leader continues to strive for excellence and shows up for their community and peers.

Outstanding Collaboration: Phi Theta Kappa’s College Project

Student-Led Event of the Year: ACCess Autism’s Ironman vs. Captain America
This award recognizes one student-led organization, Riverbat Ambassador, or volunteer event that creatively and effectively advanced its community’s mission and/or accomplished specific learning outcomes.

Student Life Champion: Hays Student Affairs Welcome Center
This award recognizes an ACC employee or departmental team for their exceptional contributions to Student Life and its efforts to offer purposeful co-curricular programming to the student body.

Student Organization of the Year: ACCess Autism
This award recognizes a student organization that contributes and excels in all four areas of organizational management. These areas include contributions to membership, learning environment, community, and diversity.

Student Organization Advisor of the Year: Samantha Thompson, ACCess Autism
This award recognizes an advisor of a registered student organization who displays outstanding leadership, commitment, and involvement.

Riverbat Ambassador of the Year: Juneiry Marquez
This award recognizes a Riverbat Ambassador who has engaged with ACC students through social, multicultural, recreational, and educational activities on campus and through intentional conversations.

Campus Team of the Year: Round Rock Campus
This award recognizes a campus team (Riverbat Ambassadors and student volunteers) that engages with the general campus student population and has been an integral part of developing and positively impacting campus culture.

Intramurals Most Valuable Player: Katharine Flathmann and Claire Legaspi

Mentoring and Leadership Program (MLP) Member of the Year: Kay Trent
MLP Member of the Year Award goes to a student who has truly gone above and beyond with a commitment to leadership development, diversity and inclusion, and civic engagement. The MLP is for all currently enrolled ACC students who are interested in receiving one on one mentoring as support for their academic, personal, and career-related goals with a focus on the three pillars of leadership development, cultural diversity, and civic engagement.
