Austin Community College (ACC) is developing an artificial intelligence (AI) policy in alignment with the newly launched TRUST framework and will host a series of conversations and events in October to gather community feedback and build collective capacity to discuss AI and its impact on the College.

The Collegewide AI Strategic Planning and Implementation Steering Committees developed the TRUST framework by conducting a thoughtful review of the research and developing best practices surrounding AI governance in higher education, previewing emerging AI tools, creating ACC’s guiding AI principles, and exploring how the framework can help shape the College’s first-ever AI policy.

View the full TRUST framework below.

The TRUST Framework

  • T – Tell Where AI Was Used: Be transparent when AI plays a meaningful role in your work.
  • R – Review Outputs: Check AI-generated content carefully before using or sharing it.
  • U – Use your Own Judgment: AI can support your work, but it should never replace your expertise, decision-making, or responsibility.
  • S – Safeguard Integrity: Use AI in ways that support honest work, ethical practice, and real learning.
  • T – Treat IP with Respect: Respect copyright, attribution, ownership, and the creative work of others.
