Austin Community College District (ACC) leadership, ACC Foundation Board members, scholarship recipients, and special guests gathered to formally dedicate the newly named Dr. John Roueche Conference Room in Highland Campus, Building 3000, on September 14, 2026.
The dedication follows a landmark $322,760 gift from Dr. John Roueche—a longtime ACC Foundation Board member and renowned community college pioneer—to expand student access through the Drs. John & Suanne Roueche Endowed Scholarship.
During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, ACC Chancellor Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart highlighted the impact of Roueche’s ongoing commitment to ACC and community colleges nationwide, and ACC Foundation Board Treasurer Dr. William Lasher underscored the critical role private philanthropy plays in opening doors for non-traditional and first-generation students.
During his remarks, Dr. Roueche reflected on his decision to specialize in community colleges and emphasized the vital role financial support plays in empowering students to achieve their academic goals.
Among the attendees were current Roueche Scholars, whose academic journeys directly reflect the gift’s real-world impact.
The event concluded with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside College trustees and advancement leaders, followed by a celebratory reception.
