ACC Chancellor Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart held the May Virtual Employee Town Hall on Friday, May 9. Nearly 1,000 employees attended the discussion, with about 30 employees tuning in from the Rio Grande Campus, where the Theory of Change Phase 2 Exchange was taking place after.

Russell started the conversation by sharing some of the issues and challenges he has observed. The town hall also featured discussions about the student experience throughout the semester and the College’s AI strategic plan.

Below are highlights from the discussion.

ACC’s Transformation Process

Russell addressed some of what he has heard about the College’s Theory of Change transformation process. He acknowledged that employees have feelings of fear and uncertainty, and said this is normal. He reiterated that while titles and roles may change during the process, no one will lose their job.

He asked employees for their commitment to our students to help increase their odds of success and our state funding, and talked about accountability and collaboration. The important discussion took up more than the first half of the town hall. Watch it HERE (starting at the 9-minute mark).

The Rhythm of the Semester Report

ACC student Kristen Neman presented her report on the student experience throughout the semester, broken down into phases and weeks. Read more HERE.

Collegewide AI Strategic Planning Committee

The co-chairs of ACC’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategic Planning Committee, Stephanie Long and Alex Watkins, presented the purpose, goals, key areas of focus, and makeup of the committee. They also introduced the four subcommittees and shared a link with further information.

They provided ways employees can get involved, including links to an AI Pulse survey and a form to volunteer to participate in a focus group.
