To better understand students, Austin Community College District (ACC) looks at the student experience throughout the semester.

Engineering student Kristen Nemain presented her report –– “The Rhythm of the Semester”–– during the May 9 Virtual Employee Town Hall. To gather data, she interviewed students to track and document the student experience during her internship with the Office of College Relations & Marketing.

“My hope is that I have gracefully walked the delicate line between storytelling and research to present both the extraordinary variety of student lives and the common parts of our experiences we share that collectively make up what it is to be a student at Austin Community College,” says Kristen.

In her presentation, Kristen broke down the semester into five phases and discussed the influencing factors, how students feel, and what they do in each phase.
