Black History Month is a time to celebrate the rich legacies, achievements, and ongoing contributions of Black individuals throughout history. This year’s theme is African Americans and Labor.

ACC celebrates Black History Month throughout February in various ways to highlight, pay homage to, and honor the rich history that has contributed to our country’s culture and achievements. The events and resources are sponsored by the College, the Office of Belonging & Purpose, the African American Cultural Center, ACC’s Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation Center, the Bold Representation of Achievement through Student Support (BRASS) program, and the Austin Chapter of Texas Association of Black Personnel in Higher Education (TABPHE).

Copies of the book are available at no charge for all ACC students, and a curated selection of library items will be available for checkout. “The Necessity of Truth” features the work of Central Texas artists who explore themes of racial healing, social justice, and cultural awareness.

About Cultural Mosaics

Cultural Mosaics, presented by the Teaching & Learning Excellence Division (TLED), bring together events, programs, resources, and activities from across ACC and our service area in celebration of cultural recognition months. Students, faculty, and staff can use these opportunities for engagement, cultural connections, or curricular experiences.

TLED encourages faculty to integrate these powerful stories into their classrooms, allowing students to explore the history, art, and activism that have shaped our world. By incorporating Black history into our curricula, we can help create a more informed and empathetic learning environment for all.
