A Message from ACC Information Security:

Austin Community College District (ACC) has issued a warning after reporting a rise in a phishing scam aimed at faculty and staff.

Employees may have received a fraudulent email with the subject “Notice: Schedule Your Annual Pension (ERS, TRS and/or TCDRS) and Benefits Review.” This phishing email includes an “877” telephone number or steps to set up a meeting via a virtual platform of choice. 

ACC nor any State Agency sent this email. DO NOT take any of the actions outlined in the email, this includes calling or setting up a meeting.

How to report phishing

Send any suspected spam or phishing emails, as attachments, to [email protected]Right-click the email inside your inbox and select “Forward as attachment.” Please do not send screen captures or screenshots. 

ACC InfoSec will investigate and reply with any other guidance if necessary.

How to stay safe online

As a reminder, phishing occurs when criminals try to get us to respond to emails that could request our personal information. These messages are designed to look like they come from a trusted person or organization.
