Getting ready for the next steps in life requires both skills learned inside and outside the classroom. Austin Community College District (ACC) hosts a one-day showcase called Adulting 101 to provide tools for young adults to prepare for the transition into adulthood.
DATE: Friday, March 1
TIME: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
LOCATION: ACC Riverside Campus, 1020 Grove Blvd., Austin
“It’s crucial that we engage with individuals where they are,” says ACC Community Engagement Director Loretta Edelen. “We want our community to know about the resources available to support educational, career, and personal aspirations. ACC is committed to making those connections. Through Adulting 101, we aim to connect students and the community with the right contacts to facilitate the next steps in their lives.”
Participants will attend mini-workshops covering mental health, basic “adulting” skills, choosing the right college, and hearing from current ACC students. University Federal Credit Union will also be on-site to provide financial guidance. Additionally, there will be opportunities for guided tours and “live pitches” by ACC departments. Free lunch boxes will be provided to participants.
The event is free and open to students, staff, and the community. For more information and to register, visit austincc.edu/adulting101.
