Austin Community College District (ACC) received a clean report of its annual financial audit. The examination was conducted by external firm, Weaver and Tidwell, LLP. The firm presented its findings to the college’s Board of Trustees on Monday, February 12.
Findings include:
- No identified weaknesses, deficiencies, or findings of noncompliance.
- No material irregularities or illegal acts.
- No transactions entered into by the District during the year for which there is a lack of authoritative guidance or consensus.
- No difficulties or disagreements arose during the course of the audit.
- No independence issues noted.
- No consultations or requests for a second opinion from other accountants.

The annual audit began in October 2023 and was completed in January 2024. Weaver and Tidwell looked into Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS), federal and state awards, and performed tests of the college’s compliance with certain provisions of laws, regulations, contracts, and grant agreements.
The firm also reviewed the college’s Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) spending. No wrongdoing or issues by the college or its employees were discovered.
National Recognition for Financial Reporting
The college also was notified that its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for Fiscal Year 2022 has been nationally recognized.
The report was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. This is the 20th consecutive year the college has received the honor.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.
