Hispanic Heritage Month is September 15 through October 15, 2023. The month celebrates the contributions and achievements of Hispanic Americans.

ACC commemorates Hispanic Heritage Month with a series of in-person activities and events open to ACC faculty, staff, students, and the community.

Throughout the month, Student Life will feature portraits of Mexican life from local photographer Roj Rodriguez. The portraits will be on display at Student Life Centers on all campuses. 

Thursday, September 14 | Fiestas Patrias

To kick off the month, ACC and Travis County Constable George Morales present Fiestas Patrias. The event is Thursday, September 14, from 12-3 p.m. at ACC Riverside Campus, Building G Parking Lot.

Wednesday, September 20 | Cafecito con Samuel Echeverria Cruz: Puerto Rico

ACC Sociology Professor Dr. Samuel Echevarria-Cruz will present a discussion about Puerto Rico Wednesday, September 20, from 3-4 p.m. at El Centro.

Wednesday, September 27 | Cine at El Centro 2: The Last American Colony

Join us for a viewing of “The Last American Colony” on Wednesday, September 27, from 12-1:30 p.m. at El Centro.  Juan Segarra’s documentary examines the island’s relationship with the U.S. and embraces the territory’s independence movement.

Thursday, October 12 | Mi Sangre: A Conversation with Roj Rodriguez

This discussion on Thursday, October 12, from 12-2 p.m. at ACC Riverside Campus, Rm. 8100,  is a finale for the month-long photo display taking place across ACC campuses. Photographer Roj Rodriguez talks about his recent work, Mi Sangre —- his inspiration, the meaning behind his work — and takes questions from the audience.
