Flags are at half-staff at all campuses across ACC District today, Wednesday, May 24, 2023, in honor of the victims, survivors, families, loved ones, and the entire Uvalde community. Today is the one-year anniversary of the tragic violence that took place at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde.

In honor of the anniversary, the governor issued an order to lower flags to half-staff.

The college also will host opportunities for employees and students to come together in conversation.

“We remain deeply saddened by the events of that day. Our hearts are with the survivors,” says Dr. Richard Rhodes, ACC Chancellor. “As a place of learning, it is up to us to provide space for conversation, where we can come together to remember, honor, and heal.”

ACC’s Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation Center at Highland Campus and Latin American Cultural Center at Riverside Campus host a special remembrance hour starting at 11 a.m.

The events will include a moment of silence, and counselors will be onsite for those who may want additional support.

As always, students may visit with a counselor in person on any ACC campus or virtually, and employees may use the college’s employee assistance programs for ongoing counseling support.
