ACC’s Center for Peace and Conflict Studies hosts the 9th Annual Peace & Conflict Studies Spring Symposium. The theme of the 2023 symposium is “Climate Science, Climate Justice: Personal and Civic Action.”

Students, faculty, staff, and the community are invited to explore how climate change is affecting vulnerable local and global communities and discuss what climate justice looks like and how we can situate ourselves within an advocacy framework.

Peace & Conflict Studies Spring 2023 Symposium

Location: ACC Highland Campus Presentation Hall (Building 2000, 1st Floor)

The full day of events include: 

  • A keynote presentation by Dr. Benjamin Kirtman, Director of the Cooperative Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Studies (CIMAS) and the Deputy Director for the Institute for Data Science and Computing at the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Sciences
  • Two panel discussions
  • Performances by students in our Dance and Drama departments 
  • A juried student art exhibition
  • A light lunch
  • Opportunities to engage with community organizations that work on climate justice and environmental conservation
