More than $30,000 was raised for ACC’s Student Emergency Fund during Amplify Austin, a community-wide day of charitable giving benefiting non-profits in Central Texas.

From March 1 through March 2, more than 173 donors donated through the Amplify ACC campaign to help students who face unexpected expenses in life. The financial support is awarded directly to students in need so they can stay on track with their educational goals.

“Only students who demonstrate that they have encountered an unanticipated emergency that, if not resolved promptly, would cause them to withdraw from some or all of their courses, receive funds through the Student Emergency Fund,” says Steven Christopher, Student Accessibility & Social Support Resources associate vice chancellor. “Results show that this short-term and immediate lifeline to our students results in their ability to stay enrolled through the rest of the semester and to reenroll into the following semester.”

The amount raised during the 2023 Amplify Austin campaign surpassed last year’s total of approximately $22,000 from 102 donors.

The college hopes to raise $50,000 to support the Student Emergency Fund, and donations are still being accepted. To donate, click the “Give Now” link on the ACC Foundation webpage at austincc.edu/foundation.
