Hundreds of students seeking part-time and flexible-schedule jobs attended ACC’s Career Services’ first job fair of the spring 2023 semester on Wednesday, February 22.
More than 20 employers participated in the event at the Highland Campus, including Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union, Austin Independent School District, Kleinfelder, Gigaroo, and University Federal Credit Union. Employers recruited for a variety of positions and internships in fields such as IT, marketing, hospitality, teaching, business operations, and more.
“Students were actively engaged, and we were excited to welcome close to 300 job seekers to today’s event. Representatives from Kleinfelder, RBFCU, and other employers were impressed with our students and indicated that their resumes were some of the best they had seen,” says Charla Dubes, Employer Relations coordinator. “Many of the employers have already emailed to thank us and to ask if they can come to the next job fair. They love ACC students!”
ACC’s Career Services specialists provided on-the-spot resume reviews at the job fair, and students who needed additional help were assisted in the Career & Transfer Center. Multiple students took advantage of this just-in-time service, and many others scheduled appointments for future dates.
To help students prepare to meet employers, Career Services hosted virtual events, including “Resumes 101” and “Prepare for the Fair” information sessions. Attendees at these events learned helpful tips to help them stand out from the crowd — what to wear, what to ask, what to bring, and how to introduce themselves to employers. These career preparation events will be repeated throughout the semester to help students.
Career Services also held an All Majors Job Fair at the Hays Campus on Wednesday, March 22.
