As Austin Community College District (ACC) enters the year of its 50th anniversary, the college wants to do even more to create a welcoming environment for students.
ACC kicks off its golden anniversary with two days of welcome events this spring — Tuesday, January 17, and Wednesday, January 18 — to greet students as they arrive for their first days of classes. The goal is to welcome students at each campus across the district.
Employee volunteers are needed to man welcome tables and help students find their way around. Special welcome kits will be available featuring a guide with information about how to find your class and learn about the campus, support services, and ways to get involved.
The welcome tables will be located near the main entrances at each campus. Employees may sign up now to select a campus they would like to volunteer at and choose the time that works best for them. Each volunteer will be assigned a 2- to 3-hour shift.
