In this episode of the Data Debrief series, Dr. Jenna Cullinane Hege, Office of Institutional Research and Analytics Vice Chancellor, shares insights from two national surveys in which ACC participated — the Trellis Student Financial Wellness Survey and the Survey of Entering Student Engagement. Both surveys collected student self-reported data in an online format in fall 2021.
The video focuses on survey findings related to financial stress, mental health, and the awareness of support services that are available at ACC. The findings will help guide ACC’s decision-making process in regard to the Chancellor’s priority for student care initiatives during AY22-23.
Some of the topics these surveys discuss include whether students experienced any financial difficulties or challenges in college, how aware students felt the college and faculty are of their financial situation, mental health indicators, and student awareness and use of financial services.
Results indicate the majority of responding students experience financial difficulties and many experience mental health challenges. Unfortunately, fewer indicate they are aware of services.
