Austin Community College District (ACC) hosted a Manufacturing Careers Expo July 8 and 10 at the newly opened Highland Campus, Building 2000 to educate the community about careers in the $16.5 billion manufacturing industry and the low-to-no cost training opportunities available at ACC.
More than 700 people registered for the event, which featured a tour of ACC’s new IMPACT Lab; a live panel discussion with employers, faculty, and students; and live hands-on demonstrations from the college’s manufacturing programs including:
- Architectural and Engineering Computer Aided Design,
- Geographic Information Systems, and
- Welding Technology
- Engineering Technology
- Advanced Manufacturing
Representatives from manufacturing companies such as Samsung, Applied Materials, Flex, Tesla, and Randstad were available to talk one-on-one with attendees and answer questions about career opportunities.
ACC Veterans Affairs and Financial Aid divisions set up tables to help potential students apply, enroll, and pay for college.
The event was hosted by ACC’s Design, Manufacturing, Construction & Applied Technologies Area of Study and its Manufacturing Program, in partnership with Recruitment Services, the Office of Communications & Marketing, and Facilities and Operations.
