Austin Community College District (ACC) continues to support students impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). The college distributed more than $4 million in Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSA) Act funds to 1,698 students enrolled in classes this semester.

CRRSA is a part of the federal Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) — a federal grant funded by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. Students can use the money to help cover the costs of college such as tuition, food, housing, healthcare (including mental health care), and child care.

Applications for summer 2021 opened May 4. Within the first month, all funds allocated for summer had been distributed. The college is now exploring whether it can reopen the application for summer while still retaining enough CRRSA dollars to provide support for students who enroll in courses this fall.

In spring, the college distributed nearly $7 million in CRRSA funds to 4,525 students.

The fall application is expected to open July 19. To learn more, visit the college’s CRRSA informational webpage.
