Austin Community College District (ACC) is calling on all adjunct faculty members to help shape the future of the Adjunct Faculty Association (AFA). To help ensure that every adjunct faculty member—especially those who have not previously participated—has a voice, the College is hosting a series of AFA Listening Sessions and open office hours as part of the Chancellor’s AFA Restoration Project.
This collegewide listening process comes after regular AFA activities have been temporarily paused for the 2026–27 academic year to conduct a comprehensive review and restructuring aimed at restoring a transparent, representative, and accountable association.
The AFA Restoration Project is led by tri-chairs Dr. Missi Patterson, Dr. Ruth Reinhart, and Anaka Rivera.
Listening Session Details
Over the coming months, the tri-chairs will host AFA Listening Sessions both in person and virtually to hear from adjunct faculty.
The sessions will include a brief overview of the restoration process, a facilitated discussion, written or anonymous feedback, and a preview of next steps. Note that individual comments will not be publicly identified without permission.
