October is Financial Aid Month at Austin Community College District (ACC), making it a good time for students to start planning how they’ll pay for college.
Financial aid applications for 2027–28 opened October 1. Applying early can improve a student’s chances of accessing available financial aid, since some funds are limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Now is the time for prospective students and families to explore financial aid options, apply to ACC, and start planning for fall 2027.
Get Help With Financial Aid
Throughout October, ACC’s Financial Aid Office is offering workshops where students and families can get help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA), learn about financial aid options, and get answers to their questions.
ACC workshops can help students apply for:
- Grants — money you generally don’t have to repay
- Work-study — part-time jobs that can help you pay for college
- Loans — money you borrow and repay
- Scholarships — financial support that may help cover college costs

Start Planning Now
The 2027–28 FAFSA and TASFA open October 1. When students complete their application, they should use ACC’s school code: 012015.
If they’re planning to attend ACC in fall 2027, they don’t have to wait until next year to get started. They can apply to ACC, explore program options, learn about financial aid and scholarships, and begin preparing for registration.
For students planning to attend ACC sooner, the 2026–27 FAFSA or TASFA is still available for spring 2027 and summer 2027. Spring registration begins October 12, with registration for new students beginning October 16.
