This April, ACC recognizes Sexual Assault Awareness Month by focusing on awareness, support, and creating a safer campus community for all students.

The theme “Start with Courage. Lead with Compassion.” encourages students to take action when something doesn’t feel right and to respond with care and respect when others need support.

Throughout the month, students can participate in events that provide space for reflection, resources, and connection:

Denim Day – Action Day

Wednesday, April 29 | Denim Day campaign is a global movement created in response to a 1990s Italian Supreme Court ruling that overturned a rape conviction because the victim wore tight jeans, implying her “consent.” In protest, people wear denim on the last Wednesday of April to challenge victim-blaming myths and to support survivors of sexual violence. Riverbats are encouraged to participate by wearing denim and using #RiverbatsInDenim to show their support!

If you or someone you know needs help addressing sexual harassment or interpersonal violence, please contact the Office of Equal Opportunity Compliance at [email protected] or 512-223-7078.
