Hands-on Northridge event highlights pathways into plumbing, HVAC, and other essential careers
Central Texas continues to face workforce shortages across multiple fields, including craft trades, healthcare, business, and more. These are jobs that keep homes livable, businesses operating, and communities running. In response, Austin Community College District (ACC) opens its doors to show how quickly students can train for these in-demand careers.
Discover ACC Northridge
Date: Wednesday, March 11, 2026
Time: 3 – 7:30 p.m.
Location: ACC Northridge Campus
ACC invites the community to a free, hands-on open house at the Northridge Campus focused on short-term, job-ready training in high-demand fields such as plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and other craft trades, as well as programs in healthcare, information technology, and business, that directly impact everyday life across Central Texas.
According to The Home Depot Foundation, more than 75% of Texas contractors report difficulty filling positions, driven by rapid population growth, an aging workforce, and billions of dollars in regional construction and infrastructure projects.
Many ACC programs offered at Northridge can be completed in months rather than years, allowing students to earn industry-recognized credentials and enter the workforce faster while building pathways to long-term career growth.
Throughout the event, participants will:
- Explore hands-on workshops and live demonstrations
- Learn about Continuing Education and credit programs offered at Northridge
- Connect with ACC staff about career pathways, enrollment, and support services
- Get career advice and resources from local workforce and community partners
- Enjoy food, music, and giveaways
Community and workforce partners will be on-site, including Workforce Solutions, Austin Voice, The Other Ones Foundation, and other organizations supporting employment and economic stability across Central Texas.
Discover ACC Northridge is part of the Central Texas Learning Festival.
