Austin Community College District (ACC) hosted a special reception on Monday, January 12, 2026, at the Eastview Campus to honor Roland C. Hayes. He is one of the College’s founding faculty members and the visionary founder and director of ACC’s African American Cultural Center. In recognition of his remarkable 52-year career and lasting legacy, the ACC Board of Trustees unanimously approved naming the center in his honor. The Center will be renamed the Roland C. Hayes African American Cultural Center.

Roland’s family, friends, and colleagues from across the district attended the reception. Share your favorite memory with Roland in the comments section (comments are monitored).
