Prestigious national conference celebrates women in community college leadership
Austin Community College District (ACC) hosts the 2025 American Association for Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC) Leaders Institute. The event is one of the nation’s premier events dedicated to advancing women in community college leadership to foster mentorship, community-building, and strategic leadership development.
The week-long institute will take place from June 1 to 6, 2025, at the Even Hotel in Austin, Texas, with dedicated programming throughout the city. More than 100 women leaders from across the country are expected to participate in a series of professional development sessions, keynote addresses, and networking opportunities designed to build stronger, more equitable institutions.
“Hosting the AAWCC Leaders Institute is more than a milestone for ACC, it’s a powerful reflection of our mission to lead with purpose and build pathways for every voice to rise,” says Dr. Monique Reeves, ACC Executive Vice Chancellor for the Future. “This event is about helping leaders recognize their own power and equipping them to transform institutions and communities across the country.”
Dr. Reeves will host a featured session titled “Are You Your Best Thing?” on Wednesday, June 4, at the Even Hotel. The session will be a candid conversation about personal empowerment and authenticity in leadership.
As part of the event, ACC will welcome participants to the Make It Center at the Highland Campus on Thursday, June 5. Attendees will tour the campus and join ACC Chancellor Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart for a special welcome.
Eleven ACC faculty and staff are participating in this year’s cohort, representing a broad range of disciplines and leadership roles across the institution.
Next year’s AAWCC Leaders Institute will be hosted in Seattle.
