Since opening in April 2022, ACC Nonprofit Austin’s (NPA) CommunitySpace, a co-working space for nonprofits, has provided much-needed meeting space for the community. It has also benefited our students — NPA recently made a $61,000 contribution to the ACC Foundation to support the College’s food pantries.
The funds derive from NPA’s CommunitySpace membership fees, minus the operating costs for the space. This contribution comes from fiscal year 2024-25 operations.
CommunitySpace is housed on the ground floor of the Highland Business Center. It leverages ACC’s role in the community, providing a critical nonprofit need – physical meeting space – and the unique value proposition of NPA’s Center for Nonprofit Studies and ACC to create an essential asset to support the area’s nonprofits and serve the Greater Austin community.
There are currently five active CommunitySpace members: SIMS Foundation, Association of Fundraising Professionals, E4Youth, Pro Sports Assembly, and Open Door Preschool.
“CommunitySpace’s goal of being a co-working hub for local nonprofits is exactly what the nonprofit community needs. We did not have a need for an entire facility, but our team needed a place to gather for team meetings, board meetings, and other in-person needs. Additionally, the location and costs were ideal for our organization, and the ACC Nonprofit Center has a great reputation for supporting local nonprofits,” says Derrick L., SIMS Foundation chief executive officer.
License fees, which members pay for their coworking space, range from $125–$250 per seat per month. Member benefits include variable co-working options, an array of meeting spaces, a Grant Research Center, a Nonprofit Reference Library, and consulting services.
