What does it mean to live our ACC values? How does it look when we’re at work? Why does it matter? The Chancellor’s Leadership Institute (CLI) is on the road, asking these questions and learning more about what’s working and where leadership can better support employees at the College.
It’s part of a special Campus Conversation series called Food for Thought. The series launched earlier this semester and features a brief update from members of the CLI, followed by special tabling workshops centered on our four values: courage, compassion, joy, and yes.
Employees sit down together to share challenges and ideas, reflect on solutions and opportunities, and dive deeper into what it means to live and work in a way that embraces each value.
“It’s been an incredible opportunity to slow down, ask questions, and listen…really listen,” says Jessica Vess, ACC Associate Vice Chancellor of College Relations & Communications and CLI member. “Our students helped us figure out our values. They told us what they need from us as employees of ACC to feel loved, supported, and empowered. Now, we’re out here to learn from our colleagues. These conversations are showing us what employees need to feel loved and empowered. They’re sharing really powerful stories, opening our eyes to challenges, and helping us discover ways we can be better.”
To date, the CLI has visited the Service Center, South Austin, Riverside, San Gabriel, Elgin, Cypress Creek, Round Rock, and Eastview campuses. Four more sessions are scheduled for the other campus communities. See the remaining schedule below.
