Austin Community College District (ACC) is participating in three nationwide surveys to better understand the student experience—both inside and outside the classroom: the Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE), Dual Enrollment Survey of Student Engagement (DESSE), and Community College Faculty Survey of Student Engagement (CCFSSE).
The online surveys are administered every three years in the spring semester. Participation is especially important this year as the results will inform the work of the Theory of Change Design Teams.
Students and faculty will receive a link to the appropriate survey in an email from the Office of Institutional Research and Analytics (OIRA) beginning the week of April 7.
ACC will use the aggregated CCSSE, DESSE, and CCFSSE results to facilitate discussions about student and faculty perceptions of student engagement.
About the CCSSE and DESSE Surveys
The Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE) is for students enrolled in credit classes. This year, a new survey—the Dual Enrollment Survey of Student Engagement (DESSE)—will be available for dual credit students.
The surveys focus on educational activities and practices that research shows are related to student success. The results offer ACC faculty and administrators information related to how students spend their time, what they feel they have gained from their classes, how the college supports their learning, and how they assess the quality of their interactions with faculty, counselors, and peers.
The CCSSE will be open through Wednesday, May 7, and the DESSE will be open through Friday, May 16.
The online surveys only take a few minutes to complete. Encourage your students to take the survey to help improve student resources and campus life.

About the CCFSSE Survey
The Community College Faculty Survey of Student Engagement (CCFSSE) is a companion to the CCSSE student survey. This survey invites all faculty teaching CCSSE-survey eligible courses at participating colleges to contribute their front-line perspectives on student engagement.
The CCFSSE elicits information from faculty about their perceptions regarding students’ educational experiences, their teaching practices, and the ways they spend their professional time.
The ability to compare faculty expectations and perceptions of student engagement with student responses will help the College identify strengths and recognize challenges for further consideration.
The CCFSSE will be open through Wednesday, May 7.
