Nearly 90 people attended the first “Holidays Around the World” event hosted by ACC’s Military Families Center and Student Advocacy Center on Saturday, December 14. The celebration brought together families from across the ACC community, including military families, parenting students, and prospective students, to honor and explore the rich cultural diversity at the College.
The event was a lively showcase of global holidays and traditions. Representatives from ACC’s World Languages Department, Asian American & Pacific Islander Cultural Center, International Programs, Study Abroad, Student Advocacy, Veterans Resource Center, and Austin PBS contributed to the cultural showcases with engaging displays, interactive crafts, and educational materials.
Santa Claus, played by Sgt. Gabriel Romero from ACC’s District Police Department, spread holiday cheer to attendees. Children of military families and parenting students took home toys thanks to generous donations from ACC faculty and staff, Mills Dry Wall, and H-E-B.
“The tremendous participation and engagement from ACC families, military families, and prospective students underscored the strong sense of community and shared learning at ACC. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make Holidays Around the World a memorable and enriching experience for all!,” says Vanessa Errico, ACC Military Families director. “We look forward to continuing this tradition and further celebrating the diverse cultural heritage within our campus in future events.”
