The Teaching and Learning Excellence Division’s (TLED) Office of Faculty Development invites all Austin Community College (ACC) faculty and staff to register for Spring Development Day (SDD) 2025 taking place on Friday, January 17, 2025!
About Spring Development Day
The 2025 theme is “Spring Forward: Creating a Mosaic of Opportunities,” offering attendees inspiring sessions designed to enhance their practices, boost creativity, develop technical talents and teaching techniques, and foster wellness and interpersonal skills. It also provides opportunities for networking and collaboration.

NEW! Spring Development Day Employee Mixer Event
- When: Thursday, January 16, 2025
- Time: 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.
- Location: ACC Highland Campus (HLC) – Building 4000
- Details: New this year, join us for an employee mixer the day before SDD! This event will be filled with free food and art activities hosted by the Office of Faculty Development’s very own artist, Chelsea Biggerstaff. Additional details will be announced closer to the event.
Spring Development Day
- When: Friday, January 17, 2025
- Time: 8:45 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
- Location: All workshops will be held synchronously online via Zoom. The keynote will be HyFlex (in-person and online).
- Details: This year’s event will offer four dynamic sessions along with a keynote presentation. Attendees can choose from up to eight workshop offerings per session. More information below.

Keynote Presentation
Join Dr. Missi Patterson and Chancellor Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart for their keynote address, “Chancellor’s Leadership Institute,” from noon to 1 p.m. This session will be delivered HyFlex, allowing attendees to attend online via Zoom or at an in-person keynote watch party hosted at the ACC Highland Campus, Presentation Hall 2.1550.
Workshop Schedule
Participants can explore a variety of workshops tailored to different interests and needs, including:
- The New Faculty Evaluation Process: Learn how the new faculty evaluation process works, what faculty need to submit this year, and where to find things.
- Creating Belonging in the Classroom: A hands-on approach to creating a universal design classroom with accessibility.
- Understanding and Utilizing CARES Behavioral Intervention Team: Gain insight into the CARES team’s mission and process, from referrals to implementing support strategies that foster a safe and supportive college environment.
- Juggling Like a Jester: How to Successfully Entertain a Busy Schedule: Master time boxing, Kanban, and calendar management techniques to stay productive in a fast-paced environment.
Attendees can choose from six to eight workshop offerings per session. The workshops will follow the below schedule:
- Session 1 Workshops: 9 – 10 a.m.
- Session 2 Workshops: 10:15 – 11:15 a.m.
- *Double Session AM Workshops: 9 – 11:15 a.m.
- Keynote Speaker: 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
- Session 3 Workshops: 1 – 2 p.m.
- Session 4 Workshops: 2:15 – 3:15 p.m.
- *Double Session PM Workshops: 1 – 3:15 p.m.
