Austin Community College District’s (ACC) Dance program is now part of an exclusive group of colleges in the nation to receive prestigious accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Dance (NASD).
The NASD accreditation sets a high standard for dance programs, verifying excellence in areas like faculty expertise, student performance, curriculum, and facilities. There are only four community colleges in the nation with this accreditation, and ACC is among them. The College is also the only one in the south to boast this recognition.
ACC’s Dance Program offers an AA in Dance, featuring a robust curriculum combining the technical and theoretical study, creation, performance, production, and wellness applications of dance. The dance department also designed a Certificate in Somatic Movement Education, currently offered through CE, which has also earned a NASD listing.
The program is designed for dancers at all levels, from beginners to those pursuing professional careers, and includes opportunities for students to perform in college productions and community events. The College’s faculty are experienced dance professionals dedicated to guiding students through rigorous coursework in technique, composition, dance history, and performance.
