Austin Community College District (ACC) is participating in the national conversation about the importance of supporting military families through artistic expression by hosting an international children’s art exhibition. Artworks from the Military Child Education Coalition’s (MCEC) international Call for the Arts program are now on display at ACC’s Military Network.

“We invite ACC students, faculty, staff, and the community to visit this special exhibition, which aims to deepen the community’s understanding of these remarkable children who, in their own way, also serve our country,” says Vanessa Errico, ACC Military Families director.

The ACC Military Network is open 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Friday, and 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday. It is located at ACC Highland Campus, Building 4000, Rm: 4.2115.

The project is a collaboration between MCEC, the Military Families Center, and ACC’s Art Department and Galleries (TAG).

The works will be on view through April 2025.

About the Military Child Education Coalition

The MCEC is a global nonprofit leadership, service delivery, and advocacy organization that supports all military-connected children by educating, advocating, and collaborating to resolve education challenges associated with the military lifestyle.

Since MCEC began the Call for the Arts, thousands of military children from all over the world, every branch of service, and of all ages have shared their interpretations of what it means to be a military child.

The 2025 MCEC Call for the Arts begins in January. The contest is open to kids up to grade 12, and artwork can be any medium, including writing and performance art.
