Tuesday, January 9, 2024, marked the end of ACC Chancellor Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart’s First 100 Days. Since he started his service as ACC’s ninth Chancellor in October, he visited all ACC campuses and centers, hosted several virtual town halls, called for an internal audit, met with students to learn how they are experiencing us and discuss the college’s values, started meeting with trustees to discuss child care options, and more.

Below are the highlights from the last half of his First 100 Days.

Campus Conversations

During his First 100 Days, Dr. Lowery-Hart hosted a total of 13 Campus Conversations — the last of them at the Rio Grande Campus, Service Center, and Highland Business Center. More than 325 employees attended these last three conversations.

Town Hall

Dr. Lowery-Hart hosted his third Employee Virtual Town Hall meeting on Friday, December 1. Approximately 440 employees tuned in for the one-hour discussion.

The meeting featured several special guests to support the conversation around employee relations. Both Amanda Dean, ACC’s Ombudsperson, and Austin Wood, the college’s Employee Relations Officer, joined Russell to discuss their roles and responsibilities to help employees understand the various types of support the college offers employees.

Dr. Lowery-Hart provided updates on what he’s been doing and what he’s working on and addressed rumors employees have been hearing.

Commencement

Dr. Lowery-Hart attended his first ACC commencement ceremony on Thursday, December 7. The ceremony was condensed and coordinated as a celebration of our more than 3,700 summer and fall graduates.

It culminated with a live mariachi performance and video testimonials from this year’s grads. Watch a recap here

Community Engagement

The college hosted a special reception with community partners on December 5, 2023, as the first official opportunity to meet the Chancellor. More than 133 friends and partners of the college registered to attend. View photos from the reception here.

Child Care Work Sessions

The First 100 Days wrapped with a comprehensive proposal for child care solutions at ACC during a special Board of Trustees Work Session on Monday, January 8. More details from the discussion coming soon.

Next Steps

The Chancellor is now developing a formal report on his First 100 Days to share information about the redefined college values and an official theory of change. The report will be shared with employees and discussed in depth at the first ACC Data Summit on Wednesday, March 27, at the H-E-B Center in Cedar Park. An invitation and special web page will be released in the coming weeks.
