The purchase and installation of furniture, fixtures, and equipment for the Make It Center (MIC) at ACC Highland Campus continues. The Center continues to host select events and onboard new staff. A date of May 18, 2023, has been set for a VIP ribbon-cutting celebration. View photos of the Center’s progress below the update.

The following highlights are from the most recent update provided by Dr. Janelle Green, ACC Make It Center Director:

Power reel installation has started in the FabLab. Power and data installation for the simulators in the Sim Zone are ongoing. Additional audio/visual installation is happening this month. Staff completed training on the Nanawall moving glass wall system in March. Contractors are working on naming and labeling conventions for data ports to ensure that port/names match and are active as needed. 

Other updates include:

  • The Center is awaiting the arrival of the furniture and A/V equipment.
  • Training simulators are in various stages of the procurement process, including a firefighting simulator, HVAC trainer, driving simulator, and heavy equipment operator simulator.
  • The Science Mill microscope exhibit has been installed. 
  • The MIC has hired hourly staff.

A VIP ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for May 18, 2023. It will remain open throughout the summer with events and programs by request and appointment. A grand opening and larger public open house is expected in fall 2023.
