The Austin Community College District (ACC) Board of Trustees unanimously approved PBK Architects, Inc. as the lead architecture firm to guide the next expansion at ACC Round Rock Campus.
Five firms submitted proposals for the project. The top three were presented to Trustees at the regular April 10 board meeting.
PBK Architects, Inc. was selected in part due to its experience and past performance in planning projects of similar type size, and complexity, including the Manor New Tech High School campus, the Blinn College Science, Technology, Engineering & Innovation building, the College of the Mainland STEAM / Allied Health Technology Innovation Building, and more.
At the Round Rock Campus PBK Architects, Inc. will oversee the expansion of the college’s applied technologies programs. This includes the expansion of existing and new facilities for the college’s building construction technology, welding technology, automotive technology, heating, and air conditioning repair technology, and advanced manufacturing programs.
The project will be funded by the 2022 general obligation (GO) bond. The bond also will include an expansion of the campus’s health sciences programs at a later date.
This will be the first project of the GO Bond, overwhelmingly approved by voters in November 2022. Other bond-related actions also are expected to begin in the coming months, including:
June
Board selection of the Architecture & Engineering Team for Hays Campus
Board selection of the Architecture & Engineering Team for Southeast Travis County
