Dr. Laura Marmolejo, ACC associate dean of Manufacturing, has been named a 2022 Friend of Manufacturing Award recipient by the Austin Regional Manufacturers Association (ARMA). According to the announcement: “She has been a key ally in the development and expansion of ACC’s manufacturing programs, including rapid certifications, dual credit programs, associate degrees, and now a Bachelor’s in Applied Technology.” Dr. Marmolejo will receive the award at a February 23 luncheon. ACC Children’s Lab School has been reaccredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children for another 5-year term. The program received an overall 100% pass rate for classroom and program observations, classroom portfolios, and the program portfolio. Learn more HERE.

ACC Asian American & Pacific Islander Cultural Center Director Lam Lynn Lau was interviewed for an article about the Best Cities to Celebrate Lunar New Year. She provided her expert take on the best ways to ring in the new year. Read the article HERE

A team of ACC students, faculty, and staff working with Social Support Resource Development (SSRD) were awarded a City of Austin grant for just over $15,000 to increase immediate student participation in grocery distribution events and in planning for substantial districtwide student access to food. The funds will be used to hire students to staff and promote current grocery distributions, which are available to ACC students and employees as well as community members. Ayeesha Green, financial wellness coordinator in ACC’s Student Money Management Office, was published in the Sociology of Education eJournal. She co-authored the paper titled “Why Students Participate and Persist in Voluntary Financial Education Programs.” Read it HERE.
