Mental health services for Austin Community College District (ACC) students are expanding. On January 9, 2023, the new Amplify Center will open at ACC Eastview Campus offering clinical services to young adult ACC students who are seeking support for their mental health.

The Center is a clinical partnership between ACC and UT Health Austin — the clinical practice of the Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin — and is designed for qualifying individuals with mild to moderate mental health needs. It is currently in a pilot stage and will open only to ACC students ages 18-29 at this time.

“The Amplify Center uses a multidisciplinary approach to address barriers young adults often face when accessing mental healthcare,” says Dr. Deborah Cohen, co-director of the Center for Youth Mental Health and executive director of the Amplify Center. “The Center helps us provide various services in one place so students don’t have to worry about scheduling multiple appointments with providers all over the city.”

Services that will be available at the Amplify Center include:

  • Therapy,
  • Employment and education support,
  • Connection to community resources,
  • Care navigation, and
  • Psychiatric consultation.

All services will be offered in face-to-face, phone, and virtual formats. Details about scheduling an appointment will be released in January.

For students who may need immediate support, the following services are available 24/7, 365 days a year:

  • Integral Care Help Line: 1-512-472-HELP (4357)
  • Suicide and Crisis Lifeline: 988
  • Emergency Services: 911
  • Crisis Text Line: 741741

The Amplify Center is a program of Dell Medical School’s Center for Youth Mental Health. Center staff will evaluate the impact of the pilot project and hope to expand it to the larger Austin community.
