Austin Community College District is getting ready to celebrate 50 years of service. The college will kick off its 50th anniversary celebration in spring 2023.
The college was founded on December 9, 1972, when the voters of Austin Independent School District approved the formation of a community college for the Austin region. By the next fall — on September 7, 1973 — ACC opened its doors to approximately 2,000 students.
Throughout the next year, ACC will host events and opportunities to share your favorite ACC memory, honor the college’s founding employees, celebrate its students and employees, and more.
To help mark the anniversary, new lamp post banners have started going up on campuses across the district.
Visit ACC’s 50th Anniversary webpage and share your memories on the 50th Anniversary padlet wall (coming soon!) to tell us why you’re #ACCProud.
