The following update has been provided by Dr. Janelle Green, ACC Make It Center Director:
Progress is moving forward rapidly with the ACC Make It Center (MIC).
In November, construction teams removed the temporary construction walls that once outlined the space, marking substantial completion of construction. The center is now visible to anyone passing by. On Monday, November 14, steps were taken to begin the construction clean-up and the punch list walk-through. The contractors now have 30 days to address any unfinished work and ongoing issues from the punch list toward completion.
The MIC team is working with furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) to move into the space, receive and install furniture and equipment, and set up displays/exhibits. The center has experienced delays in receiving audio/visual equipment, equipment for simulation experiences, and a few pieces of furniture. Items will be received over the next few months, and we hope to have the majority of items delivered and installed by March 2023.
Ongoing work is being done to plan for programming in the space, develop marketing and promotion materials, and cultivate internal and external relationships that will contribute to the programs, events, and services offered through the Make It Center.
The MIC team is aiming for a soft launch in March 2023 with a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony in April.
