ACC’s Cybersecurity Awareness Training is now available in Workday. All staff and faculty (including hourly and staff contractors) are required to complete this one-hour course by Wednesday, August 31, 2022.
To enroll in a course, log into Workday and access the Learning module by clicking “Learning” in the ‘Applications’ section.
The purpose of our annual Cybersecurity Awareness training is to empower employees to quickly recognize scams commonly used by cybercriminals who try to gain access to our college. Part of the college’s cyber defense strategy is to make cybersecurity an integral part of the ACC work environment.
Why do we have to take Cybersecurity Awareness Training every year at ACC?
In accordance with Texas Administrative Code 202.24 and Texas Government Code 2054.5191, state and local governments, including public junior colleges (that’s us!) are required to train their employees annually on a certified training program.
Not only is the training a mandatory requirement, it is also imperative in securing all ACC Information Resources from data breaches and ransomware attacks. The first line of defense is our faculty and staff. You play a vital role in keeping ACC safe from malicious attacks.
Why am I being asked to complete the Fiscal Year 22 (FY22) Cybersecurity Awareness Training in July instead of the normal October timeframe?
With the transition to Workday, our training cycle and communications were disrupted. When the campaign was issued earlier this fiscal year (in November), not many people took the required training, therefore another campaign has been set up to finalize the FY22 mandatory training awareness, which is due to be reported to the State of Texas by Wednesday, August 31, 2022.
Am I compliant for FY22?
To check your status, navigate to the Learning Icon in Workday. Then select “My Learning” and “View My Learning Transcript.” If you scroll all the way down, you will be able to see the training you have completed. The course is titled ACC Compliance Course: Cybersecurity Awareness Training.
If you complete the training anytime between September 1, 2021, and August 31, 2022, you are compliant for FY2022.
When will I need to take the training again?
The Cybersecurity Awareness Training is an annual requirement. ACC Information Security is currently working with the Professional Development office for the FY23 training year.
