ACC welcomes a new Dean of Student Affairs at the Cypress Creek Campus, Dr. Jonathan Tyner.
Prior to accepting his new role with ACC, Dr. Tyner served as the Associate Director and Principal Designated School Official for International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) at Texas State University. While working in ISSS, he held other positions including Office Coordinator and International Engagement Specialist. He also served as the Disability Services Case Manager and as an Academic Advisor for Texas State. Prior to Texas State, he worked as the ESL Services Coordinator for the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Before working in higher education, Dr. Tyner was an English teacher in South Korea and has traveled to 26 countries. He has a strong passion for adult and international education as well as learning about world cultures. He believes in lifelong learning and is committed to fostering meaningful relationships to help everyone reach their full potential.
Dr. Tyner grew up in northwest Austin near Cypress Creek Campus. He attended Texas Lutheran University and received a Bachelor’s of Science in Molecular Biology and a Bachelor’s of Arts in General Chemistry. He also holds a Master’s of Arts in Teaching English as a Second Language from the University of Texas at San Antonio and earned a Ph.D. in Adult, Professional, and Community Education from Texas State University.
