ACC’s Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation (TRHT) Campus Center is celebrating its home at ACC Highland Campus with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, April 25. ACC students, faculty, staff, and community partners are invited to attend the grand opening.
“The opening will be a celebration for all ACC stakeholders,” says Dr. Khayree Williams, TRHT director. The Center is a space and place — both physically and virtually — that will provide opportunities to have tough but necessary and loving dialogue across differences and bridges to what we share in common.”
Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the center and view the mural created by artist, poet, and motivational speaker Brian Joseph; hear remarks from U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett and Austin Mayor Steve Adler; learn about ACC’s diversity and equity work, and enjoy light refreshments.

ACC was among the inaugural 10 colleges and universities nationwide to be named a TRHT Campus Center. It was also the only Texas institution and only community college selected.
The goal of the TRHT is to work with internal and external partners to create a community where race, ethnicity, and other human differences are no longer predictors of success and well-being in any sector of the community. This includes the elimination of barriers (policies, practices, attitudes, and cultural messages) that reinforce differential outcomes by race.
