The Austin Community College Board of Trustees approved extending the college’s Strategic Plan at its March 7 meeting.
The extension allows the college time to take a focused look into how ACC will reenvision the strategic focus due to COVID-19. The pandemic highlighted the need for the college to explore new ways to offer instruction and unexpected student challenges.
ACC Chancellor Dr. Richard Rhodes will review a comprehensive Strategic Plan to support student success for everyone and encompass the needs of the entire institution. Based on current and future community needs, the plan will include a mission statement, values, vision, goals and objectives, and an implementation plan.
The plan expired on December 31, 2021. The extension allows the plan to begin being implemented on September 1, 2023.
The college will develop the timeline and process — which will include internal and external feedback — and hire a consultant over the next few months. Then, it will be submitted to the board for review and approval.
