WalletHub’s 2021 Best Real Estate Markets ranked Austin in second place, behind Frisco, Texas, for best real estate market and ranked it as the top large city. The website asked Job Hammond, ACC adjunct professor of Real Estate & Finance, for some insights as part of its “Ask the Experts” section.
ACC Continuing Education Dean Don Tracy was elected chair of the Austin-Travis County Reentry Roundtable Planning Council. He was previously vice chair. The community agency consists of diverse community representatives devoted to helping persons with criminal justice involvement to reenter society as productive citizens.
Dr. Rodney Rohde, ACC associate adjunct professor of Biology and Texas State University Clinical Lab Science Program chair, discusses recent bacterial outbreaks associated with contaminated ultrasound gel in a Medscape article titled “CDC Reports Burkholderia cepacia and B pseudomallei Outbreaks.”
Rohde was also interviewed by the Dallas Observer for a Sept. 14 article titled “Hospital Admissions are Declining in Dallas County, but Experts Warn Against Letting Up.”
ACC Computer Information Tech Department Chair Mary Kohls has been honored by Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) for her 35 years of service as ACC’s chapter advisor. PTK is the international Honor Society for two-year colleges. Learn more about PTK at ACC here.
The Dream Come True Foundation honored ACC Trustee Gigi Edwards Bryant at its 12th annual fundraising gala on Thursday, September 9, 2021. Trustee Bryant received the foundation’s 2021 Community Impact Award. The foundation provides mentoring, education, financial assistance, and community partnerships to individuals and their families living in poverty who have demonstrated determination, resourcefulness, and a willingness to work hard to receive the education and skills that will lead to independence and continued success for themselves and their families.
